FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

25th April, 2025

PUBLIC NOTICE
Appointment of Mr. Peter Enyenze as Operations Manager and Industry updates

The Board of Directors and Management of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Peter Enyenze as the new Operations Manager, effective immediately.

Mr. Enyenze brings with him a wealth of experience, industry expertise, and strategic insight, having served in various leadership capacities within the creative and copyright sectors. His return to MCSK comes at a pivotal time and signals a renewed momentum in our operational approach, licensing efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.

As the Operations Manager, Mr. Enyenze will lead the Society’s licensing activities across the country, ensuring robust execution of our mandate to license the use of musical works, collect royalties, and protect the rights of our members and affiliated rights holders. He will work closely with our regional offices, partners, and the public to promote compliance and optimize collections through enhanced systems and service delivery.

In light of recent developments in the industry — particularly the licensing of three Collective Management Organizations (CMOs) by the regulator, the Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) — MCSK has fully embraced and implemented structural and operational adjustments in full alignment with KECOBO’s directives.

Notably, MCSK has adopted the Joint Licensing framework, working collaboratively with the other licensed CMOs to streamline the licensing process. Under this framework, the Consolidated Tariff, as officially gazetted by KECOBO, is now being applied in full for all relevant users. This represents a significant step towards ensuring fairness, transparency, and efficiency in the licensing of copyright-protected music and audiovisual works in Kenya.

We wish to assure our members, licensees, the business community, and all stakeholders that MCSK remains committed to upholding professionalism, accountability, and innovation in all aspects of our operations. The user-licenses being issued are duly authentic and cover all the rights in music and audiovisual works.

We warmly welcome Mr. Enyenze back to the Society and extend our full support as he takes on this critical leadership role.
