Mechanical Rights

Mechanical Rights

Mechanical Rights is the other name for the royalties that music composers, authors, arrangers and publishers earn when their music is copied and transformed into mediums such as cassettes, CDs, DVDs, MP3s – even ringtones – for public use. In other words when it is reproduced by a device or machine.

MCSK manage these rights for members. We license your tracks and collect fees from Music Users including radio stations and advertising agencies, DJ’s and anyone who makes copies, cover versions, compilation CDs or when it’s made available for legal download on the internet. MCSK makes sure playback time is payback time for members.

Find the mechanical deed of assignment under downloads. Fill it in duplicate and take it to your nearest MCSK branch office to allow MCSK to administer this right on your behalf. You can also click here to view the document online.
